Music festivals conjure up specific visions. You say Woodstock, and I think patchouli, hemp necklaces and freedom. You say Glastonbury, and I think mud, massive stages, and loud guitars.
You say Sunburn, and I think EDM all night long, an incredible synergy of music and entertainment. The ultimate dance destination!
The Sunburn Festival needs no introduction
It has been the word on every electronic music enthusiast’s mouth for a years now. No stranger to the festival circuit though, its first edition was way back in in 2007. Little known then & organized by Nikhil Chinapa, it still chose to open with the big guns – Above & Beyond.
Since then, the festival has become a veritable, inter-state party. The organizers have brought down some of the biggest names in the electronic music industry, and I could list them out, but a stellar playlist follows.
What started as a stand-alone festival, wrapping up the year in Goa with a handful of fantastic musicians and a few thousand enthusiasts has now turned into a countrywide phenomenon. Sunburn hosts stand-alone shows at all the major cities, brings artistes down to clubs as part of their ongoing festival, and even organizes shows on slightly smaller levels for campuses. It has truly revolutionized the electronic music scene in India.
In 2016, Sunburn is back. Bigger and louder than ever!
The main festival unfolds over 28th – 31st December, at Kesnand, Dist. Pune. The organizers have left no room for complaint, lining up big artistes on every day of the festival. We kick off with Armin van Buuren and Afrojack on the first night itself, move on to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on 29th, Axwell & Ingrosso on 30th, and wrapping up rather nicely with KSHMR on the 31st.
Of course, these are just the headliners, people are tweeting feverishly about. Backing up these musicians are other hot names like Anish Sood, Nucleya, Progressive Brothers, Sartek, and many, many more. Oh, and Phase 2 artist line up hasn’t even been announced yet.
If this wasn’t enough to get your blood pumping, have a look at Sunburn’s official teaser video for this year. Turn your volume up if you’re alone. Turn it higher up if you’re at work.
